What We Believe

What We Believe

Our identity

ICF Wageningen stands for International Christian Fellowship Wageningen. We are:

  • a hospitable community that draws international people in and around Wageningen to the Kingdom of God
  • an interdenominational fellowship that connects Bible-believing Christians from different traditions

Our vision

To be an open Bible-based community of Christians from diverse cultures, countries, denominations or backgrounds that together worships Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour  (Jn. 17: 21-22; Gal. 3:28;  Rev. 7:9-10), grows through discipleship and is active in the witness of Jesus Christ (Acts 1:8).

As it says in Rev. 1:5-6:

“Jesus Christ…who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father—to Him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.”

And in Eph. 4: 16

“From Him [Jesus Christ] the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

Mission

To serve each other as the Body of Christ, encouraging each other to grow as Christ’s followers and offering hospitality to strangers, both believers and non-believers through ministry. At ICF we do this through Bible studies, Sunday worship services, prayer ministry and other activities. Through these we experience fellowship and build strong relationships with one another.

As the scripture says in Heb. 13:2:

“Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.”

And as Jesus says in Matt 25:35b and 40b:

“For….I [Jesus] was a stranger and you invited Me in… whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’”

Guiding Scriptures

Scriptures in the Vision:

John 17: 21-22

That all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in Us so that the world may believe that You have sent Me. I have given them the glory that You gave me, that they may be one as We are one.

Galatians 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth

Revelation 1: 5 – 6

and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

Ephesians 4: 16

From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Revelation 7:9 – 10

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.  And they cried out in a loud voice:  “Salvation belongs to our God,  who sits on the throne,  and to the Lamb.”

Scriptures in Mission:

Hebrews 13:2

“Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.”

And as Jesus says in Matthew 25:35b, 40:

“For….I (Jesus) was a stranger and you invited me in…”

Matthew 25:31-36

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.  All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.  Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’  “
