About us
What we are
ICF is an interdenominational Christian Fellowship that offers hospitality to internationals in Wageningen through various ministries. We are officially supported by four-bible based Dutch Wageningen Churches: PKN and NGK (both protestant), Salem (evangelical) and Vineyard (evangelical/Pentecostal).
Originally, the International Christian Fellowship (ICF) Wageningen was a student organization, part of IFES (http://www.ifesworld.org). Although ICF still heavily focuses on students of Wageningen University, we are also broadening our view to all internationals in and around Wageningen.
How we are organised
ICF is organized around the following ministries:
- Worship ministry: in charge of Sunday’s services – headed by Carolien
- Activity ministry: in charge of cultural evenings, fun outings, Sunday lunches and host families – headed by Nowella
- Publicity ministry: in charge of website, mailing list and promotion – headed by Koos
- Bible study ministry: in charge of weekly home Bible studies – headed by Connie and assisted by Jaap
- Prayer Ministry: in charge of fortnightly prayer meetings and one-on-one prayer times with individuals on Sundays – headed by Delano.
- Finances: keeping finance records, preparing budgets and statutory requirements– managed by Bart.
The ministry heads together form the Staff of ICF, and are responsible for day-to-day functions making both short and long term decisions concerning ICF in general. ICF staff includes also Jaap (chairman). Delano also functions as the secretary. Finally there is an Advisory board, consisting of former ICF chairs and some of ICF’s Sunday service speakers. The Advisory board can advise the staff, e.g. on major issues.
We are supported by various local Dutch Churches: The ‘Nederlands Gereformeerde Kerk Wageningen‘, the ‘Gereformeerd Vrijgemaakte Kerk Wageningen‘, the ‘PKN Wageningen‘, the ‘Vineyard Wageningen‘ and the ‘Evangeliegemeente Salem‘.
Mission and Vision
Wageningen is a place where many different cultures meet each other, because people from all over the world come to study or work at Wageningen University. The number of internationals is increasing each year. ICF is challenged to reach out to both Christian and non-Christian internationals. ICF is a bible based international community where internationals can meet each other and share their faith in Christ. ICF activities have an open character, everyone is welcome, whatever their cultural, religious or Christian denominational background. This open character allows for cultural diversity and diversity in experience of our Christian faith. Participants who are serious followers of Jesus can quickly and easily change into organizers.
Restructuring
The ICF is gradually changing from a Christian student group into an international church.
What we believe
We rejoice in the central truths of Christianity as revealed in the Scripture, including:
- The unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Godhead;
- The sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement;
- The divine inspiration and entire trustworthiness of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct;
- The universal sinfulness and guilt of all men since the fall, rendering them subject to God’s wrath and condemnation;
- Redemption from the guilt, penalty, dominion and pollution of sin, solely through the sacrificial death (as our representative and substitute) of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God;
- The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and his ascension to the right hand of God the Father;
- The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration;
- The justification of the sinner by the grace of God through faith alone;
- The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer;
- The one holy universal Church which is the body of Christ and to which all true believers belong;
- The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
